So as I normally do, I watch a little bit of The Daily Show and I enjoy the humor and the otherwise informative nature of the program and on Thursdays episode there was an interview with P.W Singer who was on the program promoting a book on how robotics is the future of 21st Century combat and made some very impressive references regarding how Western culture and Eastern culture sort of clash on how robots and robotics is viewed. Its truly a geeky interview but about half way through is the more prevalent stuff.
Just posting a reminder that we will be back in full swing of SHAFT so don’t forget to join us Tuesday February 3rd at 7:00pm eastern for our live streaming of show 97.
Our topic will be ‘Bad’ Anime. Anime that was so bad you couldn’t finish it, you shut off in the middle or just couldn’t help but watch the train wreck happen. If you have any bad anime ideas, email or call them in. We’d like to hear from YOU!
Also wanted to bring up the contest that we are holding for show 100, if anyone is inerested in creating as mashup of shows 14-99 and email it to us (animeshaft@gmail.com) you may win a prize.
Thought I’d go for something funny this time around. And there aren’t enough AMV’s using parts from musicals(with the exception of some AMVs to Avenue Q) so here’s a little something funny and musical!
Anime: Disgaea
Music: Bit Part Demon – Evil Dead: The Musical
Thats right the acid trip kids movie that premiered back in 2008 is in the news again, and its up for the infamous ‘Razzie’ award. The Razzie is awarded to the worst the motion picture industry has to offer. However, there is stiff competion as Speed Racer is also up against Disaster Movie, Meet the Spartans, High School Musical and Meet Dave(to name a few).
Speed Racer came out in May 2008 to a ho hum set of reviews and a lot of flak. However this was the first anime to live action feature to hit the US in this century and garnered press simply on that note. If you want to hear what we thought about Speed Racer, listen to our review in Episode #65.
