Who knew toilet seats could be so much fun?

We’re back this week now that Chris is a lot better. Joining us to make this episode extra long and extra special is Lucid Dream from Anime Roundtable and Review and Phantom, one of our awesome regular community members.

This week we catch everyone up on whats happening including a contest for our upcoming episode #100, our next Full Series Reviews as well as a few jokes at Chris’ expense.

After taking care of a rather funny voice mail we get to the topic at hand, bad anime. Anime so bad you turned it off or couldn’t help but watch (sort of like a train wreck). We have quite the list of series we just couldn’t stomach.

After the break we talk about some lack luster news in the anime world such as a Haruhi rebroadcast in Japan and Funimation’s acquisition of the Fullmetal Alchemist OVA’s. But that gives way to Gene’s surprise on the panel, the SHAFT Word Game! This is a feature we hope to spring on our guests from time to time and see what kind of answers we can get.

We round this all out with a review of Last Exile. With Funimation announcing at the beginning of the year that they picked this up, we thought it was high time to review this rather spectacular sleeper hit. Absolutely amazing artwork and plot work for a series gives way for something every otaku should go back and check again. With great characters almost anyone can relate to and a dive into the not touched enough genre of steampunk this is a winner and then some in our book.

Also, half way though the review we delve into how proper casting of voice actors and how that aspect can make or break a series. This is an interesting discussion.

Due to some home problems that are now solved SHAFT episode 97 will take place tomorrow (wednesday the 4th) instead of today (tuesday the 3rd). Sorry about the trouble.

So as I normally do, I watch a little bit of The Daily Show and I enjoy the humor and the otherwise informative nature of the program and on Thursdays episode there was an interview with P.W Singer who was on the program promoting a book on how robotics is the future of 21st Century combat and made some very impressive references regarding how Western culture and Eastern culture sort of clash on how robots and robotics is viewed. Its truly a geeky interview but about half way through is the more prevalent stuff.

Just a note, this interview is as politics free as it gets cause I’m not big on mixing politics with my anime hobby or anyone elses.
