If you would like all of the audio shows of Super Happy Anime Fun Time on DVD we are asking for a donation of $10. If you donate more then $25 we'll throw in something special with the DVD.
Whats that? ANOTHER SHAFT TV update?! Thats right, we close out our SHAFT TV’s with Cosplay Court Case at Anime Boston 2009. This is a special episode, 6 parts, hosted by TM Chiba. One of our favorite fan run events at a convention. If you go to Anime Boston or Connecticon… you owe it to yourself to jump in at least once.
All new SHAFT TV from Anime Boston 2009! Part 3 featuring clips from Anime Squares and Hykunin Kuizu. Part 4 containing clips from the ADR Director roundtable and Voice Actor roundtable! Its heavy hitting SHAFT TV in your face!
This week the gang get all mixed up, throwing out props to some, and others… well we dissed them. Get into a conversation about the proper pronunciation of Negima. 4Kids up For Sale and their attempt to finally reach out to the real anime audience. Darker then Black getting a second season in this years fall line up.
A Twitter question about great convention events. Release Spotlight, which gave way to a great conversation about Blu-Ray and what we should really be seeing on that front. And a review of the Miyazaki classic, My Neighbor Totoro.
So we’ve got quite a few buttons left over (mostly SHAFT and a few ADD left) from Anime Boston this year and we thought we’d offer them up to the listeners if you’re interested. If you’d like to get your hands on some we are offering them for $2.50USD which helps with shipping and packaging, each additional button is $0.25USD. To order just click on the donate button on the right and make sure your address is correct.
If you live outside of North America (USA/Canada) email us before making an order, or if you do not want to use PayPal.
We’ve also been tossing around the idea of creating more SHAFT branded ’stuff’ like t-shirts and whatnot, but we’d like to hear from all of you before we start looking into that. You can send email to animeshaft@gmail.com or leave a comment on this post.
This week, the gang tackled some enjoyable email about anime for noobies, as well as an interesting email about games to anime.
From there, the topic of Sentai/ADV’s new licenses, which interestingly enough were subtitled only. With Media Blasters doing great on subtitled only releases and Bandai testing the waters now was a good time to bring up the subtitled only topic.
From there, the heavily answered subs vs. dubs topic for our Twitter question of the week, a release spotlight where we really couldn’t bash anything and in honor the US release of Ponyo a new Miyazaki theme month starts up with a review of Spirited Away.
Big thanks to all our contributors, listeners and anyone else who helps the show be bigger and better each and every week!
I’m going to try and post our upcoming episode information in advance again so that everyone has a chance to weigh in, send in email and speak their peace about our upcoming topics this week.
This week we’re talking about some surprise licenses out of Sentai and ADV this week which are all subtitled only. How do you feel about subtitled only releases? Do you prefer them, or do you wish there was a nice dub layered on top?
We’re also reviewing Spirited Away in our second Miyazaki month of reviews. Let us know what you think of this fine advancement of anime movie excellence.
And if there is something you want us to talk about or want brought up on the show, give us an email or a call!
