Genshiken 2 Trailer Released

Looks like we’re getting a first look at the new Genshiken. And if you ask me, looks good to me.

The official Japanese website for Genshiken college otaku comedy franchise has posted a promotional video for the Genshiken 2 sequel television series. The Monday update also includes broadcast updates, new character designs, cast quotes from the recording sessions, and information on the opening and ending theme CD singles. The series premieres on October 9 in Japan.

Fake Manga from Genshiken to Become Real Manga!

We talked about Genshiken last show, but we can’t seem to stay off the topic.

Ramen Tenshi Pretty Menma (Ramen Angel Pretty Menma), the fictional game played by the otaku characters within the Genshiken manga world, will itself be adapted as manga. Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine will start serializing Norio Shiroi’s manga adaption of Shimoku Kio’s fiction-within-fiction creation in its November issue (on sale September 27). The official website for Pretty Menma made the announcement on August 27, two weeks after the website opened. The second series of the Genshiken anime will premiere on October 12 in Japan.

Seems pretty cool to me, it would be nice to hopefully see it here too. Now if only they can do the same for that anime series from within Genshiken….

Funimation Announces First Blu-Ray Movie! Brolly?!

We reported that Funimation has gone Blu-Ray, its first release… Brolly: The Legendary Super Saiyan and Brolly: Second Coming(as a double feature release). This was announced at Comic Con International this past weekend.

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con International, FUNimation Entertainment, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Navarre Corporation, is announcing that it is bringing the next generation entertainment to anime fans and will release its first high-definition home entertainment product on Blu-ray disc. Dragonball Z blasts onto Blu-ray with two Broly movies: Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan and Broly: Second Coming, two of the largest selling DBZ movies of all time.

Personally why Funimation didn’t pick Origin or another stand alone movie to start with Blu-Ray is beyond me.

Sega releases game, without blue hedgehog this time…

Well someone heard me say there’s a big lack of Bleach game titles in the US. Go Sega for porting over some of those awesome titles to us.

First off… Bleach: Shattered Blade for the Nintendo Wii. This will be a fighting game similar in a way to the Dragonball Z Wii game in the sense that it is a fighting game which makes use of the wiimote and nunchuk attachment. The wii game will feature authentic voice acting from the US voice actors. It would be nice if a ‘subtitle’ option is made available like with the DBZ title. 32 Characters will be made playable for this title and will feature a ‘unique storyline’ mode. As characters are unlocked, different options to the original story mode become available. In house multiplayer will be made available but nothing has been stated of this title making us of the Wii’s Wi-Fi capability.

Second, we are also getting Bleach: The Blade of Fate for the Nintendo DS. This will be a 2D side scrolling type of game featuring 28 Bleach characters. This too will be a fighting title featuring platformed levels for characters to jump above or below in. Another interesting feature is the use of Spirit Cards which will enable your characters to perform special attacks, healing, displace opponents, and other various effects. Finally, this title will make use of the Wi-Fi system allowing for 4 player combat.

Both titles are slated for a Fall 2007 US Release.

More Games!!! The Melancholy Continues!!

kjah

On our last episode we reported in a Haruhi PSP game much to our amusement. However, after our episode annoucements were made for a Haruhi Playstation 2 game which is rumored to be a role playing game and a Nintendo Wii game which doesn’t even have much information associated with it at all.

Here’s my problem. Where’s my Azumanga Diaoh games? Where’s my Fruits Basket game? Where’s my Rurouni Kenshin games? Where’s my Fate/Stay Night game? Seriously, I could go on. Why make a game for something like Haruhi? It just boggles the mind right now for me. If you’re gonna make a game for an anime, at least make it from a series that has remotely playable aspects.

Could be worse I’m guessing there could be US announcements for these games…

Tid-bites

Kiddy Grade Movie 2 Trailer is up and about. (Low Res Link, High Res Link) Looks pretty nice to me.

Viz is stomping out some Manga to both sides of the fence…

Shonen:

Kurohime (Magical, sexy, action adventure)
Tekkonkinkreet (Re-released bad side of town story)
Muhyo & Roji’s Bureau of Supernatural Investigation (Supernatural Drama)
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX (Card Games)

Shoju:

Yume Kira Dream Shoppe
Fall in Love Like a Comic
Special A
Be With You
Wild Ones
Sand Chronicles
High School Debut

Remarkably, I couldn’t find any plot summaries for the shoju manga…

And those are some Tid-Bites to hold you over. Remember to enter the contest, listen to Episodes 14 and 15 for details.
