Trailer- Darker Then Black

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Wow its been a long time since we put up a trailer, but here’s one that is worth a look. The trailer for Darker then Black is what I’d call a really nice trailer and if the series is worth the hype I’ve heard then I’ll be down for it.

New Promos

Those promos I mentioned last episode… well they’re up. And conveniently located on the sidebar. If you know or have a podcast that wouldn’t mind playing them let us know. And remember, the treatment goes both ways.. cause we’ll play promos sent in to us!

This Week- Fall Preview Show!!

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Thats right, now that we have some time and other large busy articles out of our way we can finally buckle down and give you that Fall Preview show you’ve(and we’ve) always wanted! Just like our spring preview episode, we’re going to sit down and review the first episodes of about 7-8 new anime series and suggest a few others that we just weren’t going to sit down and watch right now. If you know of some good anime series thats new this fall, let us know by emailing or calling the show. We’d love to hear from you all as we normally do!

But wait… thats not all! There’s a big time release spotlight with arguably the biggest release this fall, Ouran High School Host Club… Gene and Angelo have taken the time to look at a couple of episodes and hear what they think. Plus more releases of panel favorites, nothing really to watch out for… its all good this week so I hope you saved your halloween stash!

Wait.. there’s MORE?! Thats right, we’re wrapping up our ’spooky’ review process with a look at an old favorite, Hellsing. Can the squees of thousands of fangirls be wrong? Well we’ll be putting that to the test this week as we take a nice hard look at the vampire series that is still running strong.

All that plus our usual watching suggestions. Its an action packed, lame joke telling, review heavy SHAFT. So join us on Monday at 7 Eastern for our live show and don’t forget to send in your suggestions and thoughts on what we’ll cover!

I’m posting this a little early… just a test i’m trying out.

Episode #87- Chompin’ Whompers! The Hero’s Evil Side!

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

This was a fun filled episode starting with Gene and Chris talking a little about Fullmetal Alchemist followed by Gene’s recommendation of Code Geass R2 after Angelo’s badgering… just don’t ever watch this with a dub. They talked about the experience of being on Anime Roundtable and Review, the SHAFT show promo’s that were recently recorded and a SHAFT TV release for this week… promise.

After that we took an interesting question out of the mail bag talking about our anime spending habits. It was truly an awesome email. Too bad the rest of the email we had was redacted.

From there, we moved on to the big topic of the week. Evil heroes! With series like Code Geass and Death Note featuring protagonists who would in any other non outside the box way of thinking would be sent to either the loony bin or be billed as a bad guy. However, in anime as of late we’re finding that there’s a new reason to root for the bad guy-good guy. We take a quick look at this, what we consider, a rising new trend.

After a very Robotech/Sleeper hit Release Spotlight, we move on to review Death Note: The Last Name. This direct sequel to the Death Note live action movie did nothing more then impress us further. There were defiantly some characters missing, for better or worse. Plot lines from the original work were clearly compressed but still held up well. Our major complaints were with characters that were overall changed, more notably for the worse. The dub just felt better adapted this time around… we can’t put our finger on why exactly but it just felt right. Oh, and Viz remembered the subtitles this time. Just keep in mind that if you listen to the review… its a little spoiler ridden so try and forgive us.

Plus a whole lot of random thrown in… so join us for SHAFT!
