Chris took a look at Witchblade. This US Comic gone anime defiantly surprised us with nice visuals and holding fairly true to the original content.

Shinji Complex, Emo Complex… Same Diff

People have heard me complain about the true killer of excellent mecha series and thats ‘Shinji Complex’ where a lead protagonist in a mecha series is too freaking emo to just pilot the awesome giant robot and kick whatever evil monster or whatever is in their way. Its nice to know I’m not alone in this thought, in fact I think Obsidian from Commissioned Comic sums it up quite nicely… here.

Review: With Fruits Basket getting the rerelease treatment, Gene took it upon himself to review Fruits Basket. Enjoying the amazingly excellent story and wonderful art work, Gene brought this up to a nice 9 out of 10. Highly recommended.

AnimeBoston 2008 Online Preregistration Up……… Finally

Online Registration is finally up for Anime Boston 2008. The lowest rate has been extended until the end of this month, mainly because of the fact that online registration took much longer to execute this year.
Our full panel will be in attendance this year as well and we will be recording a live edition of our podcast at the event. We may do as we did last year and do our show amongst the fans, or we will attempt to extend our live program to a panel type event. We’re not sure how it is going to go down but if any of our local fans(or Anime Boston staff members who may listen to the show *wink wink*) are interested in a large scale, live edition of our show, feel free to email us.
We will also be recording episodes of our not as often updated SHAFT TV as well. We will attempt to include not only footage of panels we attend but interviews with attendees, staff and quite possibly a special guest or two.
So thats in, local otaku to the New England area should check out the Anime Boston site for the new preregistration and if you’re headed out there, let us know. It’d be nice to know who’s out there.
Comments are off for this postDouble Trailers: Gundam MS Igloo; Lost Universe

We have two trailers for your viewing pleasure.
First off is a subtitled trailer for Mobile Suit Gundam MS Igloo, put up by Bandai USA themselves. Amazingly, its not overhyped. Check it… here.
Second, is a trailer for Lost Universe. Hosted up over at Right Stuf, which isn’t surprising since its licensed by Right Stuf and its anime holding company Nozomi Entertainment. Check it here should you be interested.
We hope to have an AMV pick this week a little later on, today.

Review:
We went back and gave Ergo Proxy the full and complete review it deserved. This impressive cyber punk anime has an awesome unique art style we couldn’t help but fall in love with but suffered from distracting changes in it during different episodes. While the plot was deep and rich, some episodes suffered from unexplained filler which was too far from the main plot to keep us by the seat of our pants. We gave it a very high 8 out of 10, I dare say as close to a 9 as we can get. If you can find it, check it out.

Heroes’ Ando Auditions for DBZ Live Action

Well we’ve talked about how Dragonball has influenced Heroes before on the show but this news was defiantly worth putting up…
During his November 11 panel at Pacific Media Expo in Los Angeles, actor James Kyson Lee (Heroes television series’ Ando) said that he is trying out for the role of Yamcha in 20th Century Fox’s live-action adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball manga. He says that the movie is planned for a 2010 release and that he approved of the script so far. He also said that he was a childhood fan of manga such as Dragon Ball and Takehiko Inoue’s Slam Dunk — of which he had read the entire run.
If it gets it, he’d be the most interesting take on Yamcha ever, even more interesting then Chris Sabat’s take in DBZ’s Frieza saga.

We may not have been thrilled with Akira, but this motorcycle kept us interested.
The intriguing electric bike seen in this video, the EV-X7, has a magnetic motor built into its rear wheel. The motor is a hybrid between a electromagnet and a permanent magnet. It was designed by the Axle Group in Japan. The bike has a range of about 110 miles on a single charge, and a top speed of about 92 mph. The company plans to start selling a mini-scooter version of the magnetic-powered bike next year, which will be priced at about $2100.

Comments are off for this postComments? Yay! Nay? Eh?!

A while back I disabled comments for the blog posts mainly due to the insane amount of spam we were receiving through them. Many of which was completely inappropriate, for anyone.
However, in doing so I feel as though I’ve sort of silenced our listener base from commenting. This show is all around fan integration and making a program where the fans voice is the voice this program carries.
I’m going to enable comments on this blog post, to see what kind of response everyone wants to give, if its positive I’d be more then happy to reopen comments for all posts. If its more spammers though, I’m probably not going to be keen on leaving the comments open only to have it be filled with porno links.
So let your voice be heard. Comment away and let me know what you think.
Don’t forget, you can email and call us. animeshaft@gmail.com, 203-599-GEEK
