Protien Microchip Inspired by Detective Conan

Saw this on Digg, thought it was pretty cool.

It may seem like an unlikely source of inspiration for a new computer memory technology, but “Detective Conan” (otherwise known as “Case Closed”) - a popular anime and manga series about a young detective who uses high-tech gadgets to help him solve cases - could have provided the creative spark that led to the development of a protein-based ultrathin memory.

We took a look at not one but two anime this week in our review segment. First we took a look at a CLAMP classic in Chobits. With the stunning animation, fantastic voice acting and fun plot we were in love with this series. While the series has an odd way of organizing the plot around and some other minor plot quirks, we enjoy this anime quite a bit and would say that you would too. Giving a 9 out of 10.

We also took a look at Tenchi Muyo GXP. With another bright and colorful animation and rather average yet not bad dub, we thought this slapstick take on the original Tenchi story line was highly entertaining and that anyone getting into this classic series. We gave this little hit an 8 out of 10.

    We’re Huge Megaman Fans!

Yep, thats the cast to the first four Megaman games doing Hare Hare Yuaki(The Haruhi Dance). The of course uber cool thing about this is the fact its done using the sound engine for the original Mega Man games and the original character sprites.

NOTE: Episode 32 of SHAFT will be up tomorrow.

We took a look at what many consider the start all and end all of anime and that is Akira. While the awesome for its time animation and excellent redub, its mundane plot and shallow characterization had it fall short for us. We ended up giving this classic a 7 out of 10.

    Review:

Gene took it to the streets with a review of Cowboy Bebop: The Movie. This is a solid movie with beautiful animation, engaging plot, impressive music and excellent dubbing. This movie gives the perfect mix for the Bebop fan in all of us and an awesome anime watch for those who have yet to catch Cowboy Bebop for themselves. This got our second 10 out of 10 rating. If you haven’t seen it, please do its worth it.
