Review:
Chris took a look at Air Gear. He found it a visually nice series with a fairly interesting plot. Fine voice acting and musical accompaniment compliments this series to a 8 out of 10. Check out the main podcast for the full review as always.

Life! You can’t Escape its WRAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH!

Just thought I’d let everyone know that due to some personal problems all around that we are delaying this weeks episode until tomorrow(Wednesday May 30th). We’d rather have a quality program for you then something kind of thrown together.
If you’re looking for other things that I or other friends of the show can be seen doing.
-The Instance- This weeks episode features my 10th PvP Tip of the Week on the program.
-Extralife Radio- I sent a nice call into Scott and the gang regarding movies for ‘07 for their latest episode and I mentioned the easily forgotten Dead or Alive movie which we hope stays that way.
-132 GeekCast- I’ve been working with Chris at 132 Productions to get a nice geeky podcast about all things geek ranging from movies to TV to comics to action figures and beyond. So check that out. We’re hoping to have the first pilot episode up tomorrow as well as a new SHAFT.
-132 Productions YouTube Channel- Which is housing both episodes of SHAFT TV with number 3 on the way and 4 soon after that and 5 soon after that.
-Drawn by Pain has some behind the scenes footage going on. We’ve given them a shoutout before and we’ll do it again. So check ‘em out.
-Anime Boston Forums are still buzzing with some activity from people who went to Anime Boston 2007 and are looking forward to going to Anime Boston 2008.
Thats about it. We’re looking forward to getting a nice episode of Super Happy Anime Fun Time out to you for this week. Stay Tuned.

We just had our anime convention fun but there are a lot who still haven’t. So we used our wealth of experience to put this article to the test and try and save you some cash when heading out to the convention of your choice. (Link)

Review:
Gene took a suggestion and reviewed one of his personal favorites, Outlaw Star. This brilliant series follows an space outlaw and his adventures with his new found space ship, the Outlaw Star. This 26 episode series looks beautiful and gives you a nice here and now story with sadly little backstory into the interesting universe that is Outlaw Star. Many other wonderful series follow suit with little back story and they do fine, this one does to. We also mentioned that there were quite a lot of writers and still turned out wonderful. We couldn’t help give this series 9/10.

Review:
Gene talked about an anime you should most definatly avoid if you can and thats Duel Masters. This Wizards of the Coast card game turned anime avoided the mysical story telling(much like YuGiOh) for as long as it could before falling pray. Decent animation holds this series into a certain place but thats about it. The shallow plot, horrible english tranlation and even more irritating dubbing buries this series in the dirt. We gave this a 3/10. Its just that bad.

No commentsEpisode 16: Deadly Digital! Notes Distributed Internet!!

Panel: Gene, Chris, Angelo
News:
- Viz Media Teams with IGN to Digitally Distribute Death Note through Direct2Drive.com starting Thursday May 10th. (Link)
- Anime Clubs Unite, the organization aiding anime clubs from coast to coast is now doing this around the world. Otaku are gaining a global voice. (Link)
- Sci Fi Networks will be establishing a Monday night anime block to directly compete with Adult Swim, starting June 11. (Link)[Article is sadly condescending and sadly inaccurate mostly]
- Adult Swim will be expanding from 6 days a week to 7 days adding Friday night programming. (Link)
Main Topic:
We spent extra time discussing the Digital Distribution subject this week while covering the Death Note announcement. About how Japanese companies fear digital distribution and how American companies are pushing for a digital distribution.
Release Spotlight:
Ah My Goddess(S2 Vol 1)
Kyo Kara Maoh!(S2 Vol 4)
Initial D(Vol. 26)
Boys Be…(Vol. 13)
Review:
We took a look at Ranma 1/2 this week. This is a old favorite that has a treasured place on my anime shelf. While the animation is aged, the fun slapstick style comedy, martial arts action and romaticish action will keep the widest variety of anime fan happy. Gene was more then happy to give this series a 9 out of 10 faulting the spot on to off the mark dubbing Viz put into the project half way through. Angelo felt fit to give an 8 out of 10 for the previous comment and for the lack of good story lines taken from the manga.
Extra Drop:
We got an email with this, and I also got this on my desk from Chris. A Japanese comedy, kinda like a Saturday Night Live skit, spoofing Death Note. Debu(or fat) Note. Its worth a look, its funny and enjoyable even by American standards.(Link)

Seriously, Bang Zoom needs to get a freaking grip. I said I was gonna stop on bashing on Bang Zoom and AnimeTV. But coming to the realization that every two weeks in my press release queue I find a press release from them stating that they’re just having an episode of their 15 minute video podcast is getting a bit irksome.
Imagine if every podcaster put a press release out for an episode of a podcast. C-Net would be sending one out every weekday for Buzz Out Loud. Revision3 would be sending out at least one a week for Diggnation and several more for their other video podcasts. Scott Johnson would be not only sending 3 weekly for his three main shows but a daily one for his new Diary of a Cartoonist. Then there’s Leo Laporte who runs over 13 podcasts through the TWiT Network! That would be a lot of press releases and this is just what I religiously listen to for podcasts, not counting my own. Imagine if the literally thousands of podcasters who produce content on a weekly basis sent out press releases just because they’re having an episode of their podcast.
We get it, you have a nice little viral marketing gimmick. Most anime fans who use a computer are aware of your podcast and probably already watch it. You go out of your way to let people know that you make these programs every two weeks. Its irritating and redundant to have a press release for every episode.
