Delayed…
We’re delaying our new episode this week until tomorrow for the simple fact that our studio is all tied up putting together the video for our upcoming SHAFTV episodes.
We will be recording our normal podcast tomorrow instead of today. So stay tuned for our next episode.
No commentsNews we Didn’t Cover

Because of AnimeBoston, there was quite a bit of anime news we didn’t cover this week. So I’m gonna give a brief run down of what that news was.
- VIZ acquires Blue Dragon anime, which is based on Blue Dragon for the XBox 360.(Link)
- Racer X cast in live action Speed Racer. (Link)
- Geneon receives Best Independent DVD Vendor of 2006 from Trans World Entertainment Group(Home of Suncoast, Sam Goody, FYE, etc..) (Link)
- First Kyo Kara Maoh! OVA to be released in Japan in October (Link)
- First Episode of RomeoxJuliet Streaming online til May 5th (Link)
- Convention report for Anime Boston 2007 thanks to Anime News Network (Link)
Thats about it for what we missed while at Anime Boston. We’ll catch you on the other side with a new episode next week.
No commentsEpisode #14: Convention Time!! This is BOSTON!!!
Panel: Chris(132 Productions), Matt, Angelo
Main Topic:
Note: This episode was filmed LIVE from the convention area at Anime Boston 2007 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Mass.
This wasn’t one of our normal formated shows. We went on mostly about the various events we attended at the con, our perspective on how the convention was, and completely silly behavior. This is quite possibly our most random episode ever. So sit back and listen to this episode, its a tad off the wall. Due to problems on the show(nothing like technical problems when doing a live show), we were unable to retrieve our notes for any news or segments.
We also put information for our first contest on the program. Check out information on that in our current episode. You have until Sunday April 29th to participate.
Remember, we love emails, message board posts, comments. Send your email to animeshaft@gmail.com. Any email messages(we’ll read ‘em), audio files(we’ll play ‘em) or other questions.
If you’re talking about SHAFT then you can digg it.
Special Thanks to all of our listeners and behind the scenes contributers who make this podcast possible.
Extra special thanks to 132 Productions for hosting this episode of Super Happy Anime Fun Time.

Anime Boston Stuff

With about a day or so left before the crew heads to Boston for Anime Boston 2007, I figure i’d give people the low down on whats going on.
First, there will be a live episode of SHAFT recorded from the Hynes Convention Center from ground zero of Anime Boston. This will be a regular podcast with news, reviews and a release segment. In addition all members of our regular panel will be in attendance, Gene, Chris, Matt and Angelo will be together in one spot for the recording of this episode. We haven’t had 4 people on our panel at the same time ever so this will be exciting.
This episode will see the premier of the ‘Release Spotlight’ segment. Instead of simply listing the releases of the week, we’ll pick a few of our favs and highlight them out. This episode will also feature a group review of an anime that premiered AT Anime Boston 2007. We’re not going to tell you which one. You’ll have to show up to the live taping or wait for the episode to hit iTunes. Finally, we also plan on having at least one contest on this episode and we’re hoping to do more in future episodes as well.
In addition to the live podcast, we will be premiering Super Happy Anime Fun TIme Video(SHAFTV). We plan on filming at least 3 episodes at Anime Boston. So if you see us with a camcorder you could be in our next episode of SHAFTV.
Finally, we plan on hanging out and seeing as many panels and videos and so on as we can. We’re gonna hit returning panels we didn’t get to see last year and sit in on some old favorites. We’re hoping to catch a lot of people there just have fun like everyone else. We hope to see you at Anime Boston.
No commentsOther Gene Stuff
Believe it or not, SHAFT is not the only thing I work on. I’m sure its noticeable.
I do regular segments for The Instance which is a World of Warcraft podcast hosted by Scott Johnson, Andrew and RandyDeluxe. The segments deal with tips for the Player versus Player aspect of World of Warcraft. Check those out.
I’ve also submitted drinking games to The Instance and Scott Johnson’s other podcast Extralife Radio. Which have been played in Episodes 61 and 133 respectively. So check out those podcasts to check out other works I’m into.
Finally, I want to hint that I am assisting in the production of another podcast which I may or may not assist on hosting with. So stay tuned for that.
No commentsKiddy Grade Movie 1 Trailers
We totally over looked this. AnimeNation linked up the trailer to the first of the Kiddy Grade movies being released in Japan this year. Its looking like this will be a decent movie. But as always, until we see the final product we’re gonna reserve judgement.

Review:
This week, Chris took a look at GANTZ. This lovely looking blood bath has impressive animation, excellent character development with a seemingly simple plot. This title rounds out with excellent dub casting and otherwise nice sound and music. We gave it a 9 out of 10. Check it out, but keep the kiddies away from this one… it is a blood bath.
Extra Drop:
Most people know about CounterStrike, the most popular Half Life mod on the planet. But now, you can get the same treatment with your Dragonball Z characters. Dragonball: Source gives you all the Half Life action you want, with a nice Dragonball spin. Maybe this will hold people off for the MMO.
