Review:

Gene finished off Gundam month with Gundam 0080. While the UC Gundam universe holds a special place here in the podcast. While 0080 lacks in full artistic talent, the short 6 episode series is great to put a nice light on the Zeon and civilians who are in the One Year War. While you don’t get to know the characters as much as you like to you, you know enough to feel their pain. Big faults lie in its lack of length of a series and sometimes dry character development. 7 out of 10 was our score.
Extra Drop:

While we didn’t get a tangable sort of Youtube or digg story type of extra drop this week. We were extended an invitation to the Anime Cons Mailing List which is a mailing list which talks about anime conventions across the country and other various aspects of anime promotion in the country. We are honored to be on this list.

Remember, we love emails, message board posts, comments. Send your email to animeshaft@gmail.com. Any email messages(we’ll read ‘em), audio files(we’ll play ‘em) or other questions.

Review:

Gene sat down and talked about SD Gundam, as part of Gundam month. This fun quirky anime doesn’t use the same serious war time story line that all the other Gundam series use, nor does it use its similar animation styles. With various cameo mobile suits, funny dialogue and entertaining story, this series walks away with a 7 out of 10.

Extra Drop:

We got a few more YouTube submissions for the Extra Drop. First we have the translation of South Park’s ninja episode song(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1s5VhOWH4A)
And back in November Saturday Night Live, TV Funhouse parodied DBZ by having Kobayashi, the winner of the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest, as a Goku-esque figure. It’s just as ridiculous as the original DBZ. http://www.japanator.com/kobayashi-ball-z

Thanks again for sending these in.

Review:
We continue our month long look through Gundam. This week Gene brought in G Gundam for a look over. This alternate reality Gundam series which gives us a different perspective of competitive warfare. Despite its aged art style, its spectacular story kept me in to enjoying this series as much as its counterparts. We gave it the ol’ 8 out of 10.

March starts a new niche review month for us… this month will be all Gundam reviews. Each week in March we will review a different Gundam series. This week Gene took a look at Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory. For its spectacular artwork, gripping story and fairly tolerable characters we gave it a 7 out of 10.

Please don’t send email regarding the ‘Zeon guy’ Gene forgot to name on the show. Its Anavil Gato… he remembered about 5 hours later. ^.^;

We love to browse around the internet and find the coolness of the internet. This week we ended up with some other manga artists renditions of Akira Toriyama’s Dragonball. Check it out here, it is totally cool and a peak on how the Dragonball universe could be.

Review:

Chris took a look at UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie this week. He was unimpressed with this space fantasy pointing out various things we’ve seen done better elsewhere. Still something to enjoy on the rental pile. We gave it a 4.5 out of 10.
